Joe and Mindy Skaggs with Hollywood and Houdini  All of us here at Diamond H Ranch recently had the privilege of meeting Joe and Mindy Skaggs from Sulfur Springs, Texas. Joe came to us looking for a horse that he could get back into the roping game with and we were only too happy to show him some horses. Turns out there is a lot more to the story than we first thought. You see, Joe was involved in a serious accident in 2000, in which he lost his left arm below the elbow, and his right leg below the knee. He has now been fitted with a prosthetic leg, and has learned to ride and rope all over again. We were very exited to try to find Joe a horse, as his great enthusiasm was very contagious to us all. After the first day of roping and riding, it was easy to see that Joe was not going to be detoured by as simple a thing as loosing an arm and a leg. He and Hollywood got along great, and Joe informed us that it is his goal this summer to get to his first jackpot since the accident. After spending a few days with him, we have no doubt that he will easily accomplish that small hurdle after all the mountains he has already climbed. It’s great to know that there are such motivated and positive people among us and we were very privileged and honored to be able to help him on his new quest. And as we all know, behind every good man is a great woman. Mindy also shares Joe’s love for horses and we couldn’t let her leave without her own new “ONE SWEET RIDE”! We have seen horses and riders get along good here at the ranch, but it was obvious from the start that Mindy and Houdini had that connection. We are proud to say that two of our favorite horses will now be living in Sulfur Springs, Texas with two of our favorite customers. Thanks for letting us share in your journey. |
